THE IMPORTANCE OF BUILDING A NETWORK OF RELATIONSHIPS

In the world we live in, although social media make us imagine that we are close to many people, influencers and otherwise, face-to-face relationships and mutual acquaintance, linked to having shared something together, whatever it may have been, have a different and superior effectiveness.

Someone has even said: ‘you are worth the relationships you have’, referring to the strategic importance, in the world of work and beyond, of having a large number of contacts and connections, so as to facilitate and facilitate the achievement of one’s goals, thanks precisely to the network of knowledge that each of us has at our disposal: whether it is to get to information faster, whether it is to be able to have a chat with an expert in a field we do not master but need to get in touch with, whether it is to know where and how to procure a certain supply in a competitive time and cost, whether it is to access markets other than the one where one usually operates, and so on.

How can we ensure that our children have relationships that are spendable in the future? Undoubtedly, the family and the environment in which one grows up, we agree, cannot be changed so easily.

However, other factors can be worked on, during one’s growth and training, such as:

  •     being part of a local aggregation (social, cultural, sporting, etc.)
  •     be part of a wider community, online but with opportunities for face-to-face meetings
  •     travelling with curiosity
  •     coming into contact with people and environments other than the usual ones, including international ones

Certain soft skills certainly also count:

  •     the predisposition to enter into relationships with other people
  •     the ability to understand who we relate to, what they could do for us and, above all, what we can do for them, in serach of common satisfaction (value creation)

One often hears that a person, who has achieved certain results in life thanks to certain ‘shortcuts’, has been ‘lucky’.

We must remember that Seneca said two thousand years ago that luck is nothing more than talent meeting opportunity.

So what can we do for the future of our children?

We must accompany them because

  •     identify and with training cultivate their talents, maybe even make a job out of it, then everything will be easier for them
  •     build a network of relationships day by day that facilitates the emergence of opportunities where they can prove their worth
